The Society and Culture Association Committee warmly invites all teachers, both members and non-members as well as former students of the subject to engage with our consultation opportunities over the coming weeks.

It is essential that we capture the perspectives of teachers and past students across all sectors to inform our feedback to NESA regarding the proposed syllabus changes, including Life Skills and Assessment and Reporting. As an Association, it is our mandate to advocate for and represent the interests of Society and Culture teachers and students across NSW.

We invite you to attend an open Focus Group session via Zoom on Wednesday, 3 December from 4:00–5:00pm. Please register your interest below.

This session will also include an opportunity for those who wish to provide feedback specifically on the Life Skills syllabus. Please note that the session will be transcribed to support the development of our submission to NESA. We strongly encourage you to review the draft syllabi before attending, found here.

In addition, we ask all teachers to complete the accompanying questionnaires to supplement the Focus Group feedback. These questionnaires will close on 11 December.

Finally, you may also wish to provide individual feedback directly to NESA. Key features of the syllabuses are outlined in the NESA surveys. Click the links below to access the NESA Have Your Say surveys. These surveys will close on Friday, 19 December 2025.

Once the Have Your Say period closes on 19 December, we are uncertain whether there will be further opportunities to provide meaningful feedback on how the proposed changes may impact the teaching of Society and Culture and the potential outcomes for our students. We strongly encourage you to take part in this united message through the Society and Culture Association, as well as complete the NESA survey independently.
